On page 275 of The Rudolph Valentino Case Files Evelyn Zumaya critiqued the book Valentino A Dream Of Desire by author David Bret.
.."a dizzying array of typos which could have been avoided with minimal editing"
In reading her book that sentence Zumaya wrote jumped out at me. Let's flip the mirror around and see how her book The Rudolph Valentino Case Files stacks up to that type of scrutiny she levied against Bret's book.
In her own name a typo was found!
| The Rudolph Valentino Case Files page 251 footnote #6 |
You only had to go to page #2 to find the first typo. On page 2 Evelyn Zumaya lists the arrival of Federico Rizza to America.
Page 2 date of arrival is listed as June 1, 1916
Page 3 lists the date of arrival in footnote #3 as June 1, 1915
On Page 48 shows photo of Bobby Ullman and said he appeared
Page 2 date of arrival is listed as June 1, 1916
Page 3 lists the date of arrival in footnote #3 as June 1, 1915
On Page 48 shows photo of Bobby Ullman and said he appeared
in the motion picture "Lummox" in 1935. Another typo........ It was actually 1930
On Page 104 Zumaya stated the niche
Valentino was buried in was sold to the family in 1936
Another typo....... it was actually 1933
On Page 70 Evelyn Zumaya reproduces a hand written letter from
Valentino author Norman Mackenzie to George Ullman.
On page 70 he writes "....the present edition....."
On page 71 Zumaya typed the letter for easier reading; the above quote became
"... the present editor......"
Page 135 and Page 136 shows Evelyn Zumaya mistake Hustler porn publisher Larry Flint as Valentino Guild Founder Leslie Flint. Both pages 135 and 136 list the porn king's name instead of Leslie Flint's.
On Page 212 Evelyn Zumaya shows a pair of photos of Rudolph Valentino with a raincoat on, stating they were taken at the school of agriculture in Italy. Actually they were taken in the USA, New Jersey to be exact.
And my last example of turning the mirror around is on page 329 when Zumaya is handing out "thank yous" on her acknowledgment page
So, I repeat the quote Evelyn Zumaya levied against another Valentino author.
".....a dizzying array of typos which could have been avoided with minimal editing"
This is why I give The Rudolph Valentino Case Files a 'thumbs down'. In my opinion it is poorly edited, filled with typos and errors.

The Madwoman of Turin – The Pervert Who Changed Valentino! (imo)
“Evelyn Zumaya” is locked within a state of permanent anger…listen to her youtubes. Then read her rants, and you can hear that raucous, vexatious shriek within every word. She is so anxious to get these books out, so eager to “get one over” on other Valentino authors who in some cases outsell her fictitious claptrap a thousandfold (though to be fair, she does have an addvantage over them in that her books are only three or four times as expensive as theirs, and one doesn’t have to suffer the indignity of finding them in stores and flipping the cover to be terrorised by that stoney, Theda Bara death-stare of hers, or to hear or see her on TV, radio, or in the press) that editing to her becomes as important as research. Her “editor”—one assumes this to be Padre Pasta, he of the “witty” responses—does not have English as his first language, or indeed any other language imo. But, again to her credit, there are at least three pages in “The Rudolph Valentino Nut-Case Files” which do not have any typos at all. Maybe that day the sausages were cooked to perfection?
And so to other matters…

ReplyDeletePART TWO
The Madwoman of Turin – The Pervert Who Changed Valentino! (imo)
The Madwoman of Turin will pose a question as “Anonymous” (imo) such as asking why she attacks the same people all the time, or about her favourite subject (this is not Valentino, but syphyllis, or Michael Morris who, imo, she persistently stabs in the back by posting his private emails which, imo, he would not have wished the world to see). This gives her the opportunity to go on a rant under her alias, “Evelyn Zumaya” (the surname of her ex-husband, giving one the opinion, imo, that her current husband does not want her to use his) and rattle back a decade or more, telling the same old story she has dozens of times before.
“Evelyn Zumaya” will write that I have insulted/defamed her, as tonight when she says that someone who calls her “insane” is defaming her…within minutes of which she calls ME insane! She dishes it out, but doesn’t like it when the tables are turned. She never says what SHE has done, said and written over the past NINETEEN years about anyone and everyone in the Valentino world.
I challenged “Evelyn Zumaya” to post what I wrote to her recently, in response to yet another attack—her 183rd in less than twelve months, and this is not counting the attacks she has made on others. She’s too gutless to do so. So, here it is…not one syllable of insult or defamation.
[[ I am NOT under any court order not to mention your name…. I have NOT signed any papers with the police, or had cups of tea with them. I do NOT owe you any money. I do NOT have any aliases, and I do NOT belong to any groups. You insult ME and mention MY name on a DAILY basis, therefore you are entitled to everything that it flung your way…. You can attack until the cows come home. You can accuse as much as you like. It makes NO difference. I have a life that does not involve 24/7 hatred. I do NOT write as "Anonymous" and then reply in my own name, as you do. I am NOT universally hated and banned across the globe the way you are….YOU are the one calling me animal names, porn fiction writer, writing how I live in dirty surroundings and have no quality of life. YOU have NOTHING but spite to offer the world….Had you been a half-decent human being, had half of your inventions been valid you would have had publishers fighting to publish you. Instead, you go down the hate road and are shunned and loathed….Over TWO-MILLION words of hate from you about me and my friends, in ONE year.]]
And her response just now, to paraphrase so that I will not be smitten by fire and brimstone for using her exact words, or be haunted in by dreams by that glacial two-pounds-of-mascara Theda Bara stare:
She says it is a mind-boggling situation, but not unusual for bullies to accuse their victims of doing exactly what they are perpetrating…
Indeed—for this is EXACTLY what SHE has been doing since 2003.
The "writer" in this scenario, who publishes books without first ensuring their work is a quality product free of mistakes blatantly shows it's all about the money. What a fiasco!!
ReplyDeleteIt's also to do with quantity over quality...also, readers need to have a lot of money to be able to afford them!
DeleteYes, sir I agree.
DeleteShe's also once again hawking polyester COVID masks with Valentino images on them. The images are low-definition somewhat blurry scans of Rudy in various poses. Like her books, overpriced garbage. In this case, because they are of substandard material and design, they are also dangerous to the public health.
ReplyDeleteAnd doubly so, for at least one of them depicts Valentino with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth!
ReplyDeleteI went on "Evelyn Zumaya's" main blog and asked her in the responses for the reason that her books are rife with errors, typos, poor sentence construction, inconsistences etc. etc.. I simply suggested she engage an editor or proofreader of some sort since the books are printed on demand by her "husband" who himself is linguistically challenged.
ReplyDeleteHer response was that they cannot find an editor or proof reader since candidates for that position would immediately have their lives in danger from her "enemies" on the Valentino Facebook pages and other forums because of a professional association with her.
If she wasn't so consistently mean spirited and downright nasty, I would feel more sorry for her and her continued spiral down into the world of delusion.
ReplyDeleteMean-spirited does not even begin to describe her. What kind of MONSTER compares someone who has a different opinion than herself about a century-dead movie star with VLADIMIR PUTIN?
THE PERSON WHO WRITES UNDER THE ALIAS “EVELYN ZUMAYA”, THAT’S WHO.
This is snake’s belly low, ever for her. What little credibility she may have had has now gone gurgling down the plughole into the sewer where she well and truly belongs. Whatever ANYONE says about her, no matter how bad, will not compare with the Putin comment, hot on the heels of comparing us with serial killer Charles Manson. She might try and excuse herself by saying that someone “Anonymous” wrote these things. The point is, SHE sanctioned and approved it. As such she may no longer claim that SHE is the one being picked upon.
Lately "Evelyn Zumaya" and "Renato Floris" have been having fun making poor taste anti-Catholic slurs in their blog. She compares female admirers of Valentino on Facebook to be like Catholic nuns who are "Brides of Christ"....multiple women want to be in a sexual relationship with the same man.
ReplyDeleteNot to be outdone, "Mumbles Floris" compares any other Valentino scholars (besides he and his "wife") to unenlightened Catholics:
"This reminds me of schoolchildren who, once learning to write, declare to the world that they have discovered the alphabet. I see these Valentino Studies groups, as groups of stubborn schoolchildren hanging blindly on the every word of a parish priest long before the Lutheran reform".
Nice, classy words about the faith of others. This comes from two individuals who claim as their "dear friend and collaborator" Fr. Michael Morris O.P.. Fr. Morris was a priest who gave his life to the Church that they revel in publicly bashing.
It's an unfortunate situation these "two fools" will make fun and mock others. But alas these are the times we are living in. No one sets the standard for being the village idiots like these two do.
DeleteThey claim to be warm-hearted, loving, well-respected individuals, while nothing can be further from the truth. They have two things on their brains 24/7 (more so than any admiration for Valentino and their insistence that he was a syphilis-infected sex-pest): an obsession with attacking and lampooning the gay community, and a tendency to believe that anyone disagreeing with their invented theories (which happens to be everyone) is someone infiltrating various groups under numerous aliases, when in fact is they who do this. They complain of people insulting them on a daily basis on this blog. In fact, there have only been three entries on this blog so far this year, none of which are insulting, and there were only five during the whole of last year.
ReplyDeleteThus far, on the blog run by the person who writes under the alias “Evelyn Zumaya”, there have been 373 posts attacking various members of the Valentino world in the most disgustingly offensive and illegal manner (animal names, comparing us with criminals, sex offenders and murderers, etc)…while last year there were a staggering 3,321 attacks upon us, totaling almost TWO-MILLION WORDS.
Therefore I ask. Who are the bullies…”Evelyn Zumaya” and her ersatz publisher spouse, or us?
"Evelyn Zumaya" has hit yet another low. For St. Patrick's Day, both on her blog and podcast, she is featuring an interview with an "author" named "Liam Muldowney" who she claims has written a book on Valentino friend Douglas Gerrard.
ReplyDeleteDon't be fooled. "Liam Muldowney" is indeed the name of a real author who has published works including a study of Laurel and Hardy in Ireland. However, this "Liam Muldowney" person that "Evelyn Zumaya" is interviewing about Douglas Gerrard does not exist. There is no book about Douglas Gerrard that has been authored by anyone with the name of Muldowney.
I would guess he's a paid actor for her podcast and that "Zumaya" (whoever she is) has written the script for the "Liam Muldowny" character to read.
"Liam Muldowney" now joins the growing list of her interviewees and supposed "collaborators". She either invents these people out of whole cloth and pays unconvincing actors to read the part on her podcast or she claims that long deceased authors are now collaborating with her.
The actor portraying the character "Liam Muldowney" in that supposed interview gushes to the two hosts at the beginning of the podcast that "Your work and research on Rudolph Valentino is nothing short of amazing". Not a good line reading.
ReplyDeleteThese words of dialog given to this actor to mouth are another example of the not so subtle writing skills of "Evelyn Zumaya". The reading by the poor actor is as stilted as her own readings on the podcast. Of course when Mr. Mumbles gets involved in the podcast, says "ciao" and then makes his his astute observations, the dialog switches from stilted to incomprehensible.
I agree with the post above on March 16 concerning the bigoted anti-Catholic rhetoric of 'Zumaya' and 'Floris' (or whatever their real names may be).
ReplyDeleteI was extremely offended in a post on their blog made by 'Floris' last June 23. He referred to Catholic teaching as "the narrow mindset" and "that petty indoctrination". As pointed out above, 'Zumaya' is almost daily using the name of a deceased Catholic priest and Valentino researcher, Fr. Michael Morris, to prop up and give credence to HER book on Rambova. Many times she has said that the 'Father Superior' of Rev. Morris has given her complete rights and "legal custody of Michael's archive". Continually she publishes on her blog supposed emails from the late Fr. Morris in which she creates less than Christian dialog supposedly coming from him in years gone by to serve as a cudgel on anyone she herself hates.
If any of this is true, why would this "Zumaya"/"Floris" duo take every opportunity to ridicule the Catholic faith? They claim to have been so close to one of the Church's priests and his religious community. They also claim to have benefited from that association. And yet they are continually denigrating the very Church that their "collaborator" lived his vocation in. Twisted behavior, at best.
Today's claim by "Zumaya" (as she self-comments to a post in her blog) is that she and her "husband" are the heroine and hero of the world of Valentino studies. Heroes and heroines do not set out daily to attack anyone that does not agree with them or use innocent people for their own selfish ends to hawk their "product".
I think that everyone has by now sussed out that the person who writes/posts under the alias “Evelyn Zumaya” is also several if not most of the ones who post as “Anonymous”. It’s as plain as the screech you can hear in your nightmares. I had the misfortune to encounter Michael Morris, a homophobic man who was so camp, every time he opened his mouth the contents of Liberace’s handbag fell out. Check “his” emails, and you will see that the type-face in some of these has been amended. I’ll say no more. “Evelyn Zumaya” attacks not just the Catholic church: she despises everyone, most especially Rudolph Valentino, about whom she invents stories (syphilis, love-child, godfather, wealthy relatives, bad breath, rape, animal cruelty, the list is endless) as a means of getting a story across that no one is interested in. I take great pleasure in reading her blog, just to see who that “Wheel of Fortune” arrow will land on today…pleasure, because it’s immensely rewarding, watching her slip further down that self-created sewer with each passing day while our own lives remain unaffected. Hating people (but getting nowhere doing so) is all that she lives for. Absolutely everyone she has known has been stabbed in the back and slammed the door in her face—with a very loud BANG in the case of Brad Steiger and Bill Self, who she was so “fond” of that in her first (BANNED AND REMOVED FROM SALE) book she called him “Pelf”. There are NO exceptions, and had he lived, Padre Liberace would have done the same. She only makes up stories about him because he’s dead, and cannot contradict her.
ReplyDeleteAs a PS, a little calculation. The total cost of anyone wants a copy of each of her books, today's Amazon prices = £317 = $420. The Infancy of the Myth book here is £68! The Publishers Association recommended retail price for similar-sized books, equal pagination, a full set of paperbacks, is £145 = $191
ReplyDeletePrices for books are usually set by the publisher. The former Child Star "husband" boasts at the beginning of each of their podcasts "I am the proud pooblisher of all the scholarly and entertaining books of Rudolph Valentino by Evelyn Zumaya". What a scheme.
ReplyDeleteThis salutation by the "husband" is sandwiched between the spooky music that begins the podcast and the screeching that starts full throttle after he introduces her.
It goes on pagination, not on the quality of the material within, as she boasts. This quality is defined by the reader, or by critics when the publisher allots a fixed number of copies to the press...in her case the only reviews she gets are mostly from herself. In over a decade she has never had a single press/radio/television review, and never will because first and foremost on her agenda is attacking other authors, a process which is expressly forbidden and which without fail leads to career suicide. Also, authors NEVER praise their own work. That is up to others. And who would want that screech in their broadcast?
ReplyDeleteHer screeching even seems to get on the nerves of her "husband" & "pooblisher" when she bursts out from the starting gate in those painful podcasts.
ReplyDeleteIn one, oddly entitled "Evelyn Zumaya-Reclaiming Her Truth", you can actually hear the "husband" painfully exhaling his breath due to what is probably the bottled up stress of having to listen to yet another manic wild eyed rant.
Her legacy will be one of published lies, misspelled words, and screeching.
ReplyDeleteIt won't even be that, Chris. There'll be no legacy at all. She'll be talked about for a week or two, there'll be a few sighs of relief, then the paper at the bottom of the bird-cage will be thrown out and changed.
ReplyDeleteSir, you are absolutely right...
DeleteThis woman is severely disturbed...no ifs, ands or buts about it.
ReplyDeleteWho writes things on a blog like:
"I believe I am fated to be a posthumous author. In the future I will be recognized as the true serious researcher of Valentino who brought my work forward with no prejudice of any kind."
Perhaps she also believes she is Napoleon.
“A love spell,” she says of her “mighty career”, aided by a picture of an elderly bloke looking lost while fondling his gladioli. Adds that when she met him he saw the pain she was suffering trying to survive Terhune and Bret. Neither of us had mentioned her then—more than this, I’d never even heard of her! Concludes that their next book is the tangible product of a love spell! Maybe so, but it will be promoted to their half-dozen fans and “Anonymous” selves with the same degree of hate as all the others.
ReplyDeleteThe Zumaya/Floris model is to cocoon their writing, podcasting, etc.. into a very tightly controlled world that only they control. There is no room for discussion with others in the field of Valentino studies. Others are wrong. They are right. If there is a disagreement, Zumaya flies into public rages that only serve to alienate her from the larger Valentino community as others head the other direction as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteIn their enterprise, there are no opportunity for comments and discussion on their YouTube channel. They have a blog that has many of it's "responses" written the admin. as "Anonymous". They have a publishing operation that excludes the possibility of peer based editorial oversight. They have a hatred for forums where other Valentino scholars and enthusiasts discuss his legacy together and learn from each other.
These and more are the realities of the Zumaya/Floris model of "doing business" as she like to say.
Sounds like a totalitarian reality.
Per Britannica:
"Totalitarianism pursues some goal to the exclusion of all others at all costs."
What they accuse others of, they do themselves. The person who writes under the alias “Evelyn Zumaya” declares today that she has no agenda to push. She does…an agenda of hate which she has conducted for TWENTY years.
ReplyDeleteShe says that she can fill a big fat book with the insults delivered by this Blog. Really—where are they? All the insults are on HER blog, against all and sundry in the Valentino world. Not one person escapes her hatred. Check the filthy names she has called others—names which do not border on the criminal, but surpass it.
She says that she cannot imagine wasting her days reading a blog she does not like just to send in nasty comments designed to hurt someone…that such behaviour says a lot about the person writing it.
THIS IS THE PERSON WHO WRITES UNDER THE ALIAS “EVELYN ZUMAYA” DESCRIBING HERSELF EXACTLY.
One only has to see her blog—the number of posts she churns out, all brimming with hatred, in a single day—to work out that she spends ALL DAY AND EVERY DAY reading not just blogs, but trolling through Twitter accounts, and sneaking on to every Valentino-related group under the sun, and not in her own name, so that she may make comments that hurt people. There are no “good Samaritans” keeping them informed…they are doing it all themselves. They are begging for recognition, and complaining when nobody wants to know—for no other reason than they are so horrible towards everyone.
The comments posted by the person who writes under the alias “Evelyn Zumaya” and her various “Anonymous” posters, most if not all of them herself or her chubby chum, do not hurt us—they amuse us, because she is so shallow and up herself, her ego will not permit her to act like a normal human being. Her comments make us laugh, because most of the time she is talking to herself, or being responded to by the like-minded, equally up himself gladioli aficionado sitting opposite her at the table!
Then she tries to kid us—and herself—that she has a happy, fulfilled life and that we are shabby loners with no lives of her own, with no interest in life but “bullying” her! I know most of the people she attacks, and I can state that they have very enriched, full lives which do not involve hunching over a keyboard from dawn until dusk, insulting people just they want nothing to do with her, and which do not involve having Rudolph Valentino on the brain 24/7.
The individual who writes under the name "Evelyn Zumaya" is once again posting alleged private emails from the late Michael Morris. This to support her claims of their deep relationship and that she "represent(s) his archive, his legacy".
ReplyDeleteThis is as real as a three dollar bill. Who publishes supposed confidential emails of a deceased person to prop up their claims of having a relationship with them? "Evelyn Zumaya" does because she uses any trick in the book to attempt legitimize her "work".
The latest shared fake email is full of bad grammar and poor sentence structure...much in the style of "Evelyn Zumaya's" own writing. It reads like old movie dialogue which would have a character saying things that sound stilted in order to catch an audience up on what they are supposed to know has already happened in the plot.
"I am madly finishing my book on Mary which is due to the publisher at the end of the month" it begins unconvincingly. Here "Zumaya" establishes the Catholic identity which she enjoys bashing most of the time.
Then "Michael Morris" apparently decides to throw out all of the rules of English grammar to tell the reader what is going on in this deep collaboration with "Evelyn Zumaya".
After much huffing and puffing, the breathless final line written by "Evelyn" as coming from the keyboard of "Michael" reads:
"I am so blessed to have you as a dear friend and artist aid me in this last Rambova tribute".
With this, all six of the members of the Zumaya fan club are meant to be sent into deepest ecstasy.
She also did art restoration for Fr. Morris' paintings (she claims). One of the most "bizarre" (her word) was a painting he titled 'The Holy Face'.
Delete'The Holy Face' refers the Jesus' face and you can find Fr. Morris' rendering of this online through a Google search. This is what she has done. She found images of his painting recently through Google and now has decided she had a part in it (even though she thinks this religious painting is "bizzare"). This is kind of like her claim to have had a part in Morris' 'second' Rambova book.
The 'husband' really needs to take away her computer privileges for awhile. This might at least temporarily slow down her stories after finding stuff online. Googling just seems to serve in feeding her imagination.
If you want to see something truly awful, and don't blame me if it has an adverse affect on you, check out some of her own paintings...his too. They look like something the cat brought up, and that's the kindest thing that can be said about them.
DeleteIt's rather common for people who have no connection to a particular religious denomination to get terminology all jumbled up. This is what the individual 'Evelyn Zumaya' is doing the more she writes about the religious painting that she saw an image of online and now has claimed as her own restoration project at the direction of Michael Morris.
DeleteBiggest error: She claims this painting that she rescued from oblivion through her conservation skills is now in the "Dominican Diocese of San Francisco". There is no such reality. A diocese is a geographical territory that is presided over by a bishop. The Dominicans are a religious order composed of individuals who have a certain mission (in their case, preaching). There is no "Dominican diocese". There is an Archdiocese of San Francisco and a Dominican order...but the two are not the same.
Also, we all have seen her 'artwork' comprised of messing around digitally with coloring apps and producing tasteless, washed out looking Valentino photos. So Michael Morris let her loose on a rare and religiously significant oil painting to practice her fine art conservation skills? Sure, that's believable.
The first thing that amused me regarding the post by the person who writes as “Evelyn Zumaya” is that she and Michael Morris used to laugh a lot. I think a lot of people would pay good money to see her smile, let alone laugh…though there was a great deal of laughter aimed at him when he heckled me in a Chicago theatre, back in 1998, when in the best homophobic fashion he made a few cutting remarks about Valentino’s private life, and got more than he bargained for from a member of the audience.
ReplyDeleteAnd those emails (which I am sure MM did not want making public) have very definitely been “amended”. One only has to study the type-face. Amusing too that “Evelyn Zumaya” has blitched out his email address, to prevent anyone from getting in touch with him from beyond the grave.
Finally, as “Anonymous”, she asks herself to explain how SHE makes Rudy look bad, while again knocking the Memorial Service and making few more filthy remarks about this. Well, that one would take an hour or two to explain…whilst Gladioli Gladys drawls, “TRUTH!” and gives her the finger!
"TRUTH!" and the finger is their favorite response to one another as they enter one anonymous reply after another.
ReplyDeleteLately she has been touting works of one of the "authors" of her "husband's" publishing enterprise...Aurelio Miccoli. The book this Professor, or Doctor, or whatever has written is entitled THE INFANCY OF THE MYTH and it reads like a prequel novel to her yarns. Her plug:
"Such a well done narrative. And informative. I think it takes a creative researcher to take the data, or "raw data" as Michael Morris called it and turn that into a readable account. No one can read data without some weaving it all together. Aurelio Miccoli, you do a remarkable job making the data you uncover readable and enjoyable!"
This is a nice way of saying that he's written a second rate historical novel (that is, if he's a real person and not someone she's paid to take a few photos of in a lame attempt to prove authorship).
To "Anonymous" regarding your remarks about Infancy of the Myth. I am so glad people are starting to catch on to their game. The Professor is a real person of course, however the book is real too.... a real dud. I invite you and everyone else to read my Critique of Infancy of the Myth here on this blog. I still stand by my findings. Here is the link https://affairsvalentino.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-infancy-of-myth-book-critique.html
ReplyDeleteTo RVBC, Anonymous, and all the other good people here.
ReplyDeleteI love the way that these mouthpieces across the Channel give themselves titles. “Professor”—professor of what? I recall the person who writes under the alias “Evelyn Zumaya” once boasting that her gladioli-fondling bloke was a “Count”…and I have correspondence where he calls himself “Doctor”. This particular book is an absolute load of piffle. Nobody knows what Valentino was like as a child, other than the stories he himself told—and of course, because these do not involve hefty wallops of pre-pubescent sex, boozing, dog-bashing and sexually-acquired diseases, “Evelyn Zumaya” and her quintet of “Anonymous” illiterates dismiss them as Rudy having made up stories. The “Professor” (I’m also told he appeared in Thunderbirds) not only tells us what Rudy and his infants-school muckers were saying to each other at the turn of the last century—he tells us what they are thinking. To be honest, I’m a little disappointed that he doesn’t go into their toilet habits, as this is where this vastly overpriced tome belongs.
Vastly overpriced, you ask?
You will need a second mortgage on your home to afford to buy this one. Currently, it is priced as £67.95 (plus £8.95 postage—a whopping $103) on Amazon UK, though you can read about Rudy tripping through the bluebells, having a crush on “Marta”, and talking to the butterflies for a mere $48 if you get it from Amazon USA. But, Dominic Caruso loved it…he gave it five stars in a review that he wrote a few years after his death, then realised that we might find this a little bizarre, whence he returned from the grave to remove it and a couple of others. Isn’t Natacha’s astral plain wonderful?
I and the rest of the Valentino world now await with bated breath for the
76-year-old gladioli enthusiast/puppeteer/former child-star/cinematographer/multiple-linguist/actor/theatrical director/sausage expert to publish an account of his real-life romance with Valentino. He does, after all, applaud him as his “Atom Bomb of Love”.
On her rudolphvalentino.org "About The Authors" page, we see photos of Michael Morris, "Professor" Miccoli and the Lady herself who is intensely staring at the camera like Dracula's Daughter.
ReplyDeleteI find "the Professor's " short bio. amusing since there are many claims to greatness but no particulars given:
"Aurelio Miccoli, was born and lives in Castellaneta. He is an architect specializing in the restoration of monuments. As a scholar of history of art and of local architecture, he has carried out several research projects, and has published research studies on the local artistic patrimony as well as numerous essays on the historical and urban heritage of his home town. He is also a journalist who collaborates with several local daily newspapers."
Specifics are lacking:
Which monuments has he restored?
What are his several research projects and published research studies?
How about those numerous essays?
As a journalist, which local daily papers is he writing for?
Vague accomplishments all with no specifics given.
Regarding "the Professor's" photo on that author page...the poor fellow is clutching a couple of the Mad Woman's and Morris's books close to his chest with a look of fear in his eyes. He's possibly recoiling from the sound of her screeching voice as she launches into yet another tirade about the Valentino cultists who she now believes are using voodoo dolls against herself and "the husband".
I do have to say that Zumaya's latest post in which she once again lionizes Balthasar Cue is inane.
ReplyDeleteIt's an embarrassment that Zumaya & Floris used as their go to for yet another cut and paste book the writings of a hack writer from a fan magazine that had the intellectual weight of STAR or SOAP OPERA DIGEST. Cine Mundial was a Spanish language fan tabloid and much of the writing in it was drivel fed to star struck fans about movies stars in the U.S..
If you want to get a real laugh, do some digging on eBay and find old "autographed" photos of vintage film stars written out (secretarially) to Cine Mundial and it's readers. They are as fake as this junk that Zumaya's "husband" has so painstakingly translated.
Let's see...Spanish translations through an Italian who cannot form proper sentence structure in English.
Great stuff!
And those mistakes keep a-coming. Liza Minelli. Elisabeth Taylor...David Brett. Now, you would thing the number of times she crowed THAT one, she'd get it right! Must be the heat getting to her!
ReplyDeleteExactly. The uncelebrated "writer" should ask Santa for a Dictionary for Christmas.
DeleteSeems like Rudolph Valentino's Queen, aka Michael Morris, was none too hot when it came to spelling. On her tribute to him today (with the obligatory attacks on all of us), the paedophile-fiction writer includes a letter where Padre Liberace spells both her name and that of Saint George Ullman wrong! I had the misfortune of meeting RVQ in Chicago, and he was not a nice person at all.
ReplyDelete
